Global duty-free industry expected to generate a revenue of $94,203.7 million between 2022-2031

With the increasing number of inbound and outgoing travellers and a rapid increase in domestic as well as international business travel, the global duty-free industry is expected to generate a revenue of $94,203.7 million between 2022-2031.

Yet this revenue is being put at risk by the actions of unscrupulous individuals and groups seeking to co-opt the duty- and tax-free identity as a means of masking illicit trade, counterfeiting activity and intellectual property theft.

That is why The Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure campaign, launched by The Duty Free World Council and the Tax Free World Association (TFWA), articulates a clear stance on behalf of the duty- and tax-free industry against illicit trade, counterfeiting, and intellectual property theft. The campaign is calling on duty- and tax-free retailers worldwide to stand shoulder to shoulder with brand owners and those on the front line in the fight against these crimes.
