Europe’s Busiest Airports By Passenger Numbers In 2022

Despite getting off to a slow start due to complications regarding the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine, 2022 largely marked a year of recovery for Europe's main air hubs. Five of the continent's major airports handled more than 50 million passengers apiece last year, include London Heathrow, Paris Charles De Gaulle, and Madrid Barajas.

In line with these rising passenger figures, airports across the globe are expanding their offering, with a vast range of authentic, high-quality duty- and tax-free goods. Airports are increasingly reliant on these commercial and non-aeronautical revenues to support reinvestment, fund the development of their infrastructure, invest in new carrier routes, and keep landing fees down for passengers.

That is why Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure is coordinating a clear stance on behalf of the duty-free industry against illicit trade, counterfeiting, and intellectual property theft.
