Industry action
Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure is a global campaign to coordinate and demonstrate a clear stance by the duty free and travel retail industry against illicit trade, counterfeiting and intellectual property theft.
Issues such as illicit trade, counterfeiting and intellectual property theft are not new challenges, and have been a source of frustration for many industries across the world for centuries. These criminal activities unfairly tarnish the reputations of the industries they impact and detract from the consumer experience. They cost industries like the duty free and travel retail industry millions every year in lost sales opportunities.
As duty free and travel retail channels operate within some of the world’s most secure and tightly controlled environments – such as airports – the industry has a holistic and transparent view of its supply chain. This transparency means the industry can act quickly and forcefully against illegality of any kind, and ensure it does not gain a foothold within the supply chain.
The Duty Free: Trusted, Transparent, Secure campaign intends to raise awareness of the issue of illicit trade, counterfeiting and intellectual property theft. It seeks to engage with governments, regulators and in-market enforcement bodies to ensure that the industry’s zero tolerance approach is understood by policymakers.
