Classic walk-through duty-free remains a popular retail option at airports
Classic walk-through duty-free remains a popular retail option at airports, with 60% of travellers saying they want to see more of it going forward, according to recent research by Airport Dimensions.
A notable desire for new retail options was pinpointed in the findings, with 54% of travellers keen to see more showrooms to test products and the same number of passengers hoping for automated retail and vending machines.
Further to this, 55% of travellers would like more retail opportunities in airport lounges and 62% wish to be able to shop online with delivery options to their homes, destination, or their flight.
The data is further proof of the enduring demand for duty-free, with the industry predicted to help the market register substantial growth if it can meet developing traveller demands.
To protect this growth, the industry must make a concerted effort to stamp out illicit trade and counterfeiting in 2023.
