ACI Europe revises its passenger traffic forecasts
The Airports Council International (ACI) Europe has revised its passenger traffic forecasts in light of the impact of geopolitical factors and economic headwinds. Full recovery in the region is now expected in 2025, not 2024 as previously indicated.
As international travel recovers from the damage caused by Covid-19 related restrictions, the revenue derived from duty free has never been more important to the sector’s financial health.
Our industry boasts a secure and transparent supply chain – one of the most secure in the world – and generates vital revenue for the aviation, travel, and tourism industries, with airports increasingly reliant on commercial and non-aeronautical revenues to support reinvestment, fund the development of their infrastructure, invest in new carrier routes, and keep landing fees down for passengers.
This makes it all the more vital that stakeholders work together to combat illicit trade and counterfeiting in duty-free, to ensure the growth and prosperity of the travel sector.
